As we expand our legal function, we are looking for a skilled and versatile Legal Counsel to join our in-house team. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive legal professional with expertise across commercial, family, and property law.
Role Summary: The Legal Counsel will be responsible for providing expert legal advice across a wide spectrum of matters including commercial contracts, property transactions, and family-related legal issues. You will play a key role in supporting internal stakeholders, ensuring legal compliance, managing risk, and contributing to strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- Commercial Law: Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including supplier, service, NDAs, and partnership contracts. Advise on company governance, risk, compliance, and intellectual property matters. Support with business transactions, acquisitions, and general corporate affairs.
- Family Law: Advise on a range of family law matters including cohabitation, child arrangements, separation agreements, and domestic matters where relevant. Provide empathetic, pragmatic advice to internal clients or partner departments. Liaise with external counsel and family law specialists when required.
- Property Law: Advise on commercial and residential property transactions. Assist with lease negotiations, landlord and tenant matters, and conveyancing support. Conduct legal due diligence on property assets and manage relevant risks.
- General: Monitor changes in law and regulations affecting the business. Develop internal policies and provide training on legal issues. Liaise with external counsel where specialist advice or litigation support is needed. Maintain accurate legal records and documentation.
Person Specification:
- Essential: UK-qualified solicitor or barrister with minimum 3+ years PQE. Demonstrable experience in commercial contracts, family law, and property law. Strong analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage a broad workload with excellent time management. High level of integrity and professional ethics. Proficient in legal research and use of legal tech/tools.
- Desirable: Experience working in-house or with SMEs. Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
