We are working on behalf of a leading global industrial organisation to find an experienced Shift Manager for a key site near Fawley, Southampton. This is a unique opportunity to join a critical operations team within a complex and high-performing industrial facility.
In this role, you’ll play a hands-on leadership role in the safe and efficient running of a heavy industry plant. You’ll be the most senior person on site during shifts, working closely with a Remote Operations Centre (ROC) and ensuring that safety, compliance, and production standards are consistently met.
- Oversee daily plant operations on a shift-to-shift basis, ensuring safety and reliability at all times
- Work collaboratively with the ROC to optimise performance and respond to real-time operational needs
- Manage contractors on site, reviewing method statements and risk assessments
- Conduct regular inspections, identify faults, and ensure timely maintenance and notifications
- Analyse and act on shift reports to drive continuous improvement
- Lead local emergency responses or abnormal situation handling when required
Someone who has come through an apprenticeship background in Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation engineering. Ideally has gained practical experience in a similar role within heavy industry, such as oil & gas, petrochemical, refining, or industrial gases. Willingness and flexibility to work rotating 12-hour shifts, including nights and weekends.
