Hybrid:Glasgow (with occasional home working) Advertised from 9th June 2025 36 hrs a week Role Scottish Refugee Council is seeking a Refugee Integration Adviser to join our team. As a Refugee Integration Adviser, you will contribute towards the delivery of the Refugee Support Service for newlygranted refugees across Scotland. Your role in supporting the integration of new refugees will include workingdirectly with refugees, assessing needs, providing advice and advocacy. You will do this by supporting clientsto realise their goals and objectives, working closely with key agencies and services as appropriate. You will be degree qualified or demonstrate equivalent experience, have an understanding of issues affecting asylumseekers/refugees and it is essential that you are able to work with vulnerable groups in a sensitive manner. Youwill have a good command of English, the ability to write clear and concise case management notes, draftcorrespondence and reports. You will be able to work in high pressure situations and have effectiveinterpersonal skills including an understanding of cultural differences. This role combines one-to-one casework support with coordinating a volunteer befriending service aimed at reducingisolation and improving wellbeing among newly arrived asylum seekers. You will lead the recruitment, training,and supervision of volunteer befrienders, and ensure that volunteers are well-supported in their roles andappropriately matched with clients. Alongside this, you will provide basic casework support to individuals, while referring more complex cases to othercaseworkers as needed. Where possible, you will communicate with clients in relevant community languages toensure understanding, trust, and inclusive support. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys both one-to-one support work and volunteer coordination, and who isconfident working with people from diverse backgrounds. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone compassionate, organised, and committed to social justice. The roleinvolves providing one-to-one casework support to individuals navigating the asylum and immigration system orfacing challenges related to employability, housing, access to services, welfare, or integration. The Caseworker will work closely with the Service Delivery Manager and other team members to ensure people receiveaccurate information, advocacy, and appropriate referrals. The Caseworker will also liaise with external agencies and service providers to secure client support, maintainaccurate and confidential records, and support people in their preferred community language where possible. Therole requires someone comfortable managing a varied caseload and building trust with individuals from diversecultural and linguistic backgrounds. (This is a special case exception for men, as a genuine occupational qualification in terms of Schedule 9, Part 1 ofthe Equality Act 2010). This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong community connections and a passion for empowering others.The role will involve delivering community workshops, group presentations, and gender based violence (GBV)workshops specifically targeting men, using relevant West African community languages to reach and engageparticipants effectively. Working closely with the Outreach Delivery Manager, you will design and lead workshops tailored to the needs ofasylum seekers and New Scots from West African backgrounds. The work will involve both one-off and ongoing groupsessions, including awareness-raising around safety, rights, and accessing support. You will also support wider project goals by collaborating with colleagues across the organisation and developingpartnerships with external agencies and community groups. The role requires flexibility, cultural awareness, andthe ability to communicate effectively across diverse communities.
