Our Competition litigation consulting team has provided expert opinions on major antitrust legal actions against Big Tech (including Apple, Amazon and Facebook), Big Pharma, Big Finance and Big Agriculture. Meanwhile our original and innovative investigations into river sewage and Covid-19 have led to national press coverage. Our Financial and Securities Litigation team has acted as plaintiffs' experts in the most consequential financial cartels and market manipulation cases of the past 10 years.
We are looking for an experienced Competition Economist to join our team. This role will manage client relationships and will lead multiple project teams of economic consultants investigating corporate and financial wrongdoing to achieve project goals for those clients. This role can be based in either our London or New York office.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of economic consulting projects involving competition economics.
- Oversee antitrust projects and manage a project team of economic consultants.
- Conduct detailed economic analysis of antitrust allegations as part of the delivery of Fideres’ consulting mandates.
- Write comprehensive reports that summarise the key findings of our analysis in a simple, succinct manner.
- Proactively manage client relationships.
- Help manage the team to ensure innovative ideas are researched and delivered for our project pipeline.
- Present and explain proposals to potential clients.
- Help track and allocate resources to achieve business unit goals.
- Coach the team on Fideres’s processes, writing styles and analytical methodologies.
- Maintain up-to-date records in Fideres’s CRM and Project Management systems.
Key Skills and Attributes
- Proven experience at a competition agency, in a sector regulator, or in an economic consultancy.
- A PhD in Economics is essential.
- Experience of dealing directly with clients (such as law firms and/or regulators).
- The ability to communicate effectively on complex issues in simple terms.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills; proficiency in Python or R would be desirable.
- Strong project organisation skills, able to meet deadlines.
- A high level of integrity with a creative and curious mind.
- An interest in coaching, developing and collaborating with others.
- An appetite for networking and connecting people and problems.
