Purpose of the role: The Digital Delivery & Change team is responsible for the successful delivery of enterprise-wide programmes and projects, predominantly sponsored by the Business Operations and Finance functions. The team also works alongside the Technology Solutions team to support the creation of legal service and other technology products. The change portfolio of work is broad in range and includes business process improvement, business transformation and technology implementations, often working with third-party suppliers and/or solution providers. The Digital Delivery & Change team works closely with other teams in Technology Services, ensuring that all aspects of complex change projects are delivered successfully.
This role has been created following sustained growth and demand for business analysis skills across the business and will combine delivery of business change activities alongside mentoring of a small team of Business Analysts. It is anticipated that the mentoring will form approximately 20% of the workload with the remainder focused on delivery.
The successful candidate will report to the Senior Project Manager and will be responsible for working closely with business units to apply strategic business analysis skills, gaining an in-depth understanding of their business plans, processes, services, and solutions to enable their change strategies and roadmaps. They will also apply enterprise change management skills/practices and promote a growth mindset to support the delivery of successful business change.
The Senior Business Analyst will continue to work closely with Programme/Senior Project Managers/Project Managers and stakeholders at all levels and across a range of business functions, providing business analysis support as required on a broad range of change programmes and projects, including business transformation, process improvement, technology design/implementation and product/solution development.
Experience of working with Agile methodologies will be particularly helpful as the Technology Services team continues to move towards more adaptive delivery methods, but it is also important that the candidate can explain Agile delivery techniques in language that can be understood by business stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will be well-organised and have experience of working in a programme and project delivery environment, preferably in a legal or professional services firm, who is able to work with minimal supervision. A flexible, pragmatic, and commercial approach is key, as is experience of implementing complex business and system change, working across multiple teams and geographies. Proven experience of mentoring or coaching others is also essential.
Candidate Overview: We are looking for candidates who ideally hold the following skills and experience:
- At least five years' experience of working as a Business Analyst on large-scale change programmes and projects including business transformation, process change and technology implementation.
- Coaching and mentoring experience gained with Business Analysts.
- Experience in developing and deploying business analysis best practices, policies, procedures, and processes.
- Experience in procurement process, selection and engagement of third-party providers and ongoing management of third-party implementation partner and/or solution provider.
- Experience of Agile methodology plus business change and transformation skills.
- Understanding of product management and product ownership techniques and principles.
- Understanding of core legal systems (including iManage Work, Aderant PMS, Interaction CRM and BigHand) is preferred but not essential.
- Legal sector or professional services experience gained in an international firm, understanding and experience of legal business processes.
Qualification: Educated to a degree level standard or equivalent. Business Analysis/Agile accreditation preferred (e.g. AgileBA or BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis).
