Citadel Source are delighted to be working on an exclusive basis with a leading, listed business to recruit a Commercial Finance Lead – Bids and Tenders to be employed on a predominantly remote basis for a UK role. This role is particularly interesting as it will be embedded within a new team within the business recently created to facilitate the successful acquisition of new business via a tender process for the listed enterprise, and represents an exciting new opportunity to lead the finance element of the division and partner the management team of this business.

The successful candidate will be a confident, personable individual, with strong partnering skills and the ability to relate complex financial information to senior leadership within the business, leading on commercial activities such as bid work, tenders, business cases, but also with a keen eye for continuous improvement as the business quickly needs to accelerate within this area and quickly win new business to drive growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who likes to partner as the acquired business needs a significant amount of support to build a quality MI driven approach to their enterprise. The role will be supporting in building the business's budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring that operational colleagues are set challenging but achievable targets, identifying risks and opportunities, and tracking progress against actions alongside the senior leadership team.

As the Commercial Finance Lead – Bids and Tenders, your role will include, but not be limited to:

  • Manage a team of twelve finance professionals
  • Responsible for ensuring all finance elements of centralised bids are delivered, complying with both internal and client requirements
  • Accountable for leading a team of financial analysts / financial modellers through the bid process, ensuring the financial components of a bid are high quality, accurate while optimising commercial advantage and that they are delivered in a timely and comprehensive manner
  • Accountable for the compliance (with client requirements) of the bid financial model template submission
  • Responsible for testing sensitivities and scenarios in the bid financial model to demonstrate scale of risk and opportunity and create the financial insights required to robustly inform discussions around risk and reward
  • Lead the finance governance process including ensuring the preparation of required governance briefings (supporting approvals, steering groups and other stakeholder briefing requirements), attending briefings required to achieve internal approvals to submit bids.
  • Develop and own the finance framework for bidding across all bids
  • Ensure the finance framework is understood and utilised across the wider finance function
  • Support the Bid Finance Managers in providing financial support, guidance, understanding and challenge to colleagues providing inputs to the bids
  • Liaise with the Mobilisation team post bid award to review bid assumptions and Project Agreements highlighting any known risks and opportunities taken within the bid
  • Identify and introduce process improvement and promote the continuous development of the financial framework and governance
  • Collaborate and partner with other teams within the finance function to drive efficiency and use of best practice across the function
