Agricultural Underwriter with a salary negotiable plus market-leading benefits. This MGA is owned by a global broking giant, with capacity provided by one of the largest composite insurers in the world, offering a ‘best in class’ service to its discerning clientele. The business is committing considerable resources to increase its market share further.
In this varied role, you will be dealing with both renewal and new business, with clients coming from both its own broking business and third-party brokers UK-wide. You will be dealing with a variety of bespoke products that are geared to the Agricultural market, such as Farm Combined, Property, Liability, and specialist products.
Duties will include:
- Managing and maintaining relationships with regional brokers, colleagues and clients across the UK.
- Identifying opportunities to offer solutions to existing clients/brokers by evaluating applicant situations and circumstances and determining insurance risks.
- Working within your delegated underwriting authority to underwrite profitable business.
- Communicating effectively with senior members of staff to ensure clarity and positive relationships across the business.
- Putting clients and customers first by working within SLAs and ensuring a high level of service is provided at all times.
- Liaising with brokers and colleagues to increase profitable relationships, both virtually and in person.
- Issuing insurance policies by calculating premium rates, as well as negotiating insurance terms and conditions with brokers.
Ideally, you will come from an Agricultural underwriting background, with experience of writing Farm Combined business. However, applications from outstanding Commercial Underwriters with a keen interest in the Agricultural sector and knowledge of the issues faced by those who live and work in the countryside are welcome. We are also keen to hear from technically-gifted Brokers who have underwritten business via delegated authority/schemes.
You must be highly numerate, with excellent IT skills. You should also have strong stakeholder-management skills, enjoy working to shared goals and objectives, and, as a senior member of the team, be willing to contribute to the future direction of the business by suggesting new ideas.
This is a hybrid role, allowing several days per week in various office locations. We also welcome applications from highly experienced Agricultural Underwriters who wish to be almost exclusively home-based (if they can get to an office location every month or so).
