What You'll Do
As a Product Owner Chapter Lead for BCG’s GenAI Platform, you will represent the development of GenAI capabilities for BCG developers, properly positioning those capabilities within a larger BCG GenAI and Platform Strategy and ensuring the successful utilization of those capabilities by BCG developers and engineers. You will also evangelize and represent the Platform Engineering organization as we grow into this dynamic and fast-moving space of GenAI. You will work closely with technical and business stakeholders to understand and capture critical application requirements, and work with the Platform engineering portfolios to prioritize and execute against those requirements.
You will champion the development of training and upskilling programs targeted at leading BCG’s development organizations into a GenAI enabled world, and ease that transition by providing easy to use, modular frameworks for GenAI development. You will line manage and direct the outcomes for 1 or more GenAI focused Product Owners and Product Analysts and drive the outcomes for at least two squads. This will start small but grow over the next few years.

The Product Owner Chapter Lead is a leader who is passionate about serving customers, inspiring their teams, and excited to be an ambassador for the organization’s new way of working. This role will define the overall strategy and direction for a domain of product squads within a larger functional Portfolio focused on an end-to-end product-based solution area that requires multiple aligned squads to deliver customer value on an ongoing basis.
Partnering with senior leadership and stakeholders that consume the product, you will be accountable for delivering business results and customer value measured through specific KPIs. You possess strong domain expertise and play an ‘integrator’ role across a set of related products or Squads. You are responsible for facilitating, supporting, and motivating your team members. You know how to set strategic direction for your teams and are comfortable stepping out of the way while enabling your Product Owners and Squads to drive and deliver the work. You have an ability to empower and bring out the best in people and enjoy coaching and developing them. You will also drive collaboration and knowledge sharing at all levels of the organization to break down siloes and achieve the best results for the organization.
Among Your Responsibilities, You Will
- Deliver business results and customer value related to the positioning and use of GenAI technologies at BCG.
- Set Objectives for the GenAI Squads and work with the Portfolio Lead and Product Owners to align on goals.
- Define specific and measurable OKRs for each Squad aligned with the portfolio, related to the build and evolution of GenAI capabilities, frameworks and technologies.
- Oversee the GenAI Squad’s portion of the portfolio budget and engage with organizational funding processes.
- Drive large programs that cut across Squads within the Product domain area, establishing AI strategy across BCG technical platforms.
- Support the Portfolio and GenAI Squads to prepare for strategy sessions, including QBRs, ABRs, Portfolio Syncs, etc.
- Define your Squads’ purpose and ensure alignment with the organization’s business strategy and Portfolio overall.
- Align the GenAI Squads to the Platform Engineering group’s vision and purpose; work with senior leadership, key stakeholders and GenAI development teams to align on these elements.
- Develop a Squads-level backlog of priorities, in line with business strategy and OKRs.
- Inspire and empower your Squads to deliver against the portfolio’s objectives and OKRs.
- Use facts, data, and analysis to make hard decisions and trade-offs, especially related to resource allocation and prioritization of work within the GenAI Squads.
- Work closely with your Product Owners and their technical counterparts to drive alignment between GenAI Squads priorities and Squads’ priorities and sprint goals.
- Empower and enable Engineering Squads to realize their missions.
- Coordinate with GenAI Product Owners and Chapter Leads to identify the right resources to support the Squad’s objectives.
- Play an integrator role across a set of related platform products with a view on the consolidated demand view across multiple squad backlogs, both inside and outside the GenAI Squads.
- Engage regularly (e.g., via daily stand ups) with GenAI Product Owners on Squad goals and progress.
- Provide the right level of feedback to enable Squad alignment and autonomy.
- Enable the organization’s new way of working.
- Model behaviours to support the organization’s transformation to a new way of working and utilizing new, innovative capabilities and technologies surrounding the GenAI paradigm.
- Actively create and maintain the culture within the GenAI Squads based on the organization and Agile leadership behaviours.
- Create awareness and understanding across the GenAI Squads on portfolio and organizational objectives, progress, and plans.
- Break down siloes and improve working effectiveness by playing an ‘integrator’ role across the organization.
- Collaborate with the CPE Portfolio Lead and other Product Team Leaders and stakeholders to resolve escalated bottlenecks and dependencies for the development of GenAI capabilities and your stakeholder’s success.
- Team with technical Chapter Leadership to help strengthen our people and functional capabilities.
- Engage with stakeholders above and below you to advance the work of the GenAI Squads.
- Ensure clear acceptance criteria for Squad output and provide feedback on work-in-progress as helpful to ensure alignment.
- Ensure GenAI Product Owners proactively seek out and consider the voice of the customer in defining their priorities and outputs.
- Represent GenAI Squads, Squad interests and stakeholder requirements to senior organization leadership, and escalate blockers as needed.
- Develop and coach GenAI Product Owners.
- Manage and develop direct reports to help improve individual and team performance.
- Regularly collect and provide continuous feedback as part of performance management process for direct reports.

What You'll Bring
- Strong experience in developing, experimenting, innovating and leveraging GenAI technologies and selling their value, including (conceptually), Chatbot/Context agent development, LLM access and training, RAG modelling and data handling in the GenAI context.
- Strong previous experience as a technical Product Owner, Product Owner Chapter Lead, Chapter Lead, Solution Architect, Enterprise Architect or Technical Area Lead, preferably in the Cloud or Application Development space.
- Demonstrated skill and passion around promoting and prioritizing the technical evolution of IT products for business use.
- Integrating new AI and other technologies into established ecosystems to drive new value.
- Managing “success” teams that help application teams upskill and deliver cutting edge capabilities.
- Entrepreneurial spirit and comfort working within a rapidly changing environment.

Total compensation for this role includes base salary, annual discretionary performance bonus, contributions to BCG’s Profit Sharing and Retirement Fund (PSRF), and a market leading benefits package.
We expect total annualized compensation for US based employees to be approximately the following:
- Base salary between $174,000.00 - $218,666.67; placement within this range will vary based on experience and skill level.
- Annual discretionary performance bonus between 0% - 30%.
- 5% Profit Sharing Retirement Fund (PSRF) contribution, increasing to 10% after two years of service. Contributions are vested immediately and there is no waiting period.
- First year annualized target total compensation: $210,105.00 - $264,040.00.
