About the Role We are seeking a driven and technically proficient Lead Land Surveyor to join our growing consultancy team. This role offers a unique opportunity to take a strategic lead in the delivery of high-quality surveying projects across the built and natural environment. Unlike a traditional survey firm, you’ll be part of a multidisciplinary consultancy, working alongside engineers, planners, and project managers on diverse and challenging schemes.

As Lead Land Surveyor, you will manage and mentor a team of surveyors, ensure technical excellence, and play a key role in client engagement and business development. The ideal candidate will bring a strong mix of leadership, commercial awareness, and hands-on technical capability.

Key Responsibilities
Lead, manage and mentor a team of land surveyors, supporting their professional development and ensuring high standards of delivery.
Oversee and conduct a range of survey types including topographical, measured building, engineering surveys, and 3D laser scanning.
Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and quality of survey outputs and reports across all projects.
Take responsibility for planning, resourcing and delivering survey work to time and budget.
Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, supporting business development and the preparation of competitive fee proposals.
Provide technical input and advice across the consultancy, collaborating with other disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
Stay up to date with industry best practices, standards, and technological innovations.

Key Skills and Experience
Proven leadership experience in land or geospatial surveying, with a track record of managing teams and projects.
Broad technical expertise across land, building and/or engineering surveys, with hands-on experience in 3D laser scanning considered advantageous.
Strong commercial acumen, with experience in client liaison, fee proposal writing, and project budgeting.
High proficiency in the use of Total Stations, GNSS equipment, AutoCAD, and DTM/Land Surveying software such as N4CE, LSS, or similar.
Clear and confident communicator, with the ability to explain technical information to clients and senior stakeholders.

Qualifications and Requirements
Membership of or working towards chartership with ICES and/or RICS.
Full, clean UK driving licence.
Willingness to travel to sites across the region or nationally as required.
Relevant qualification in surveying, geomatics, or a related field.
