Commercial Building Surveyor

An established and reputable construction business is seeking a Surveyor/Estimator to join its Property Services division on a permanent basis .
This specialist division delivers insurance-related repair and reinstatement projects , typically following events such as flooding, fire damage, escape of water, and other building defects. Projects range from domestic and multi-residential to educational, industrial, and commercial buildings.

The successful candidate will be working across both tendered and negotiated projects , with values typically ranging from £10,000 to £500,000 , as well as measured term/schedule of rates contracts from £20,000 to £100,000 .

We’re looking for someone who enjoys operating in a collaborative, solutions-focused environment and who can work with clients, consultants, and subcontractors in a spirit of mutual trust and cooperation . A significant portion of the work is from repeat clients , with whom the business holds long-standing relationships .

The ideal candidate:
Commercially minded and collaborative
Able to work on their own initiative with some guidance
A strong team player with excellent communication skills
Based within reasonable commuting distance (ideally within 45 minutes) of the Gloucestershire area

Key Responsibilities:
Preparing tenders and estimates for both negotiated and competitive projects
Measuring works from drawings and on site
Preparing and submitting quotations
Negotiating and agreeing contract sums
Preparing valuations, invoices, and forecasts
Pricing and agreeing variations and final accounts
Managing subcontractor procurement, orders, payments, and variations
Attending site and team meetings
Supporting delivery teams with commercial and contractual advice

Requirements:
Good knowledge of construction processes and building regulations
Experience with JCT contracts and measured term/schedule of rates projects
Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel, Word, and Outlook
A professional qualification in a related field is desirable
