An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the busy and dynamic team working within the Sexual Health and Contraception Service at Weymouth. We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Sexual Health Nurse to join our friendly, forward-thinking team working 37.5 hours per week on a permanent basis.
The role includes working in an integrated service in contraception and sexual health across our main hub in Weymouth, and occasionally at our weekly clinics in Shaftesbury, Blandford, and Bridport. We offer a wide range of clinics and sexual health support, such as Genito-Urinary Medicine/STI screening, HIV & PrEP clinics, LGBTQ+ support clinics, contraceptive clinics, Dorset Working Women's Project, Early Medical Termination Service, and Target Outreach Support for young people and schools.
You must be a car driver and hold a full driving license for this role. The service operates Monday to Friday between 8 am and 8 pm, and the post holder will be required to work various shifts within these times, with some flexibility.
The successful candidate will provide a comprehensive, efficient, and evidence-based service for patients attending for contraception and sexual health screening, treatment, and advice. Nurses who are appropriately trained will assess, plan, undertake care and investigations, and supply medications in a supportive and confidential environment, recognizing when to refer.
Responsibilities include fitting, removing, and changing subdermal implants and intrauterine contraceptive devices, as well as counseling for IUS & IUD methods. Employment in this role requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover. Applicants subscribed to the DBS update service can present a valid DBS certificate instead of a new check.
