InterQuest are supporting an International bank who are looking for a Credit Underwriter to join their team. You will be responsible for reviewing retail loan and savings applications in line with internal policies and regulatory guidelines. You will assess creditworthiness using a range of data sources, including credit bureau reports, income verification documents, and affordability assessments. Your insights will directly contribute to maintaining a strong risk framework while enhancing the overall customer experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess loan and savings applications within the company’s risk appetite and regulatory framework
- Analyse supporting documents such as bank statements, ID, income verification, and credit reports
- Make balanced, well-informed underwriting decisions using both internal systems and external tools (e.g., CIFAS, AML databases)
- Identify potential fraud and ensure compliance with all relevant financial crime and FCA regulations
- Communicate effectively with customers and retail partners throughout the onboarding process
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, helping to refine underwriting processes and policies
- Work cross-functionally with teams in Risk, Product, and Customer Service to deliver efficient outcomes
- Provide evening and weekend cover as part of a flexible workweek
