About The Role

STATSports seeks to appoint a highly capable and driven sports science professional to be embedded full-time within the Physical Performance department of a Premier League club in the northwest. This role operates within one of the most iconic football clubs in the world, supporting the integration, delivery, and innovation of STATSports’ performance technology and services.

You will work daily with the client’s men’s, women’s, and academy squads across performance, medical, and coaching departments. You will support best-practice use of STATSports systems including Apex Pro, Sonra software, and the RTK-integrated infrastructure, while ensuring data quality, innovation alignment, and applied value. This role will be based onsite with our client in Manchester, England.

Responsibilities

  • Performance Operations: Oversee / support the day-to-day usage of STATSports hardware and software across all squads and environments (training, rehab, matchday).
  • Coordinate live data streaming and fixed infrastructure systems to enable high-quality, real-time feedback.
  • Manage data flows, athlete monitoring processes, and support staff education to ensure consistent, insightful use of data.
  • Support innovation projects, API integration, and LPS/RTK system enhancements.
  • Research & Development: Work with the client’s performance and analytics teams on applied R&D initiatives, including longitudinal data collection and benchmarking.
  • Contribute technical expertise to impactful projects (e.g. fatigue monitoring, goalkeeper metrics, invisible tracking).
  • Assist in ongoing validation work of internal metrics and player profiling tools.
  • Professional Collaboration: Contribute to internal education sessions and support CPD for performance and medical staff.
  • Maintain effective communication between STATSports and the client’s performance team, ensuring timely feedback and updates.

About You

You’ll need to have:

  • MSc in Sports Science, Exercise Physiology, Data Analytics or related field
  • Strong applied knowledge of GPS, LPS or real-time player tracking systems, ideally STATSports Apex / Sonra
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support cross-disciplinary collaboration
  • Hands-on technical experience, including data handling, troubleshooting, and real-time monitoring
  • Ability to work autonomously within a fast-paced, high-performance setting
  • It’d be great if you had: Experience working within a performance environment
