Consilium Recruit are proudly supporting the R&D division of a privately owned international business. They are seeking a Controls Software Engineer to join their engineering team based in Essex on a permanent basis, supporting mechanical design for a range of sectors.

Salary: Negotiable based on experience + Excellent Benefits including Pension, Healthcare and Bonus.

The Role

  • The Junior Controls Software Engineer will provide support to projects as required, including BOM control and management of subcontract design and analysis activity.
  • You will assist in the design and analysis of systems, including component selection, system integration, and performance optimisation.
  • The Junior Controls Software Engineer will provide solutions for in-field failures and issues on products and projects and identify and troubleshoot technical challenges and product issues/failures observed during operation, proposing innovative solutions.
  • The Junior Controls Software Engineer will work under the supervision of the Principal Engineer, support with the introduction of the solution into the products/projects and will work closely and consult with cross-functional teams, including design, electrical, procurement, the workshop, and external partners, to achieve project objectives.
  • You will play an active role in testing protocols, data collection, and validation efforts to ensure the reliability and safety of the dual fuel systems, whilst maintaining a contribution to quality assurance processes and ensuring that projects meet regulatory and industry standards.
  • The Junior Controls Software Engineer will create reports on work conducted, and maintain data pertaining to design, development, and calibration work in line with business requirements.

The Person

  • The ideal candidate will be qualified to a minimum level of bachelor’s degree in engineering (or equivalent) and demonstrate a strong interest & passion in decarbonisation and robust technologies that are used for harsh environments (high TRL technologies).
  • You will highlight excellent critical thinking skills and diligence and demonstrate strong verbal, written communication skills and teamworking abilities.
  • Familiarity with engineering software tools (Matlab/Simulink) and CAD design (e.g. CATIA/SolidWorks) is hugely advantageous for the role.
  • Any knowledge of hydrogen safety protocols and regulations is welcomed for the role.
  • The Junior Controls Software Engineer will be resilient, energetic, and enthusiastic and enjoy working in a fast-paced and agile environment.
