Are you a passionate people leader with the technical know-how to tackle one of housing’s biggest challenges head-on? If the answer’s yes, grab a brew and get comfy – this could be exactly the opportunity you’ve been waiting for. At Yorkshire Housing, we don’t do “business as usual.” We’re on a mission to lead the way in how we manage damp and mould, and we’re looking for a new Damp and Mould Team Leader to help us get there.

This is a specialist leadership role with real impact – you’ll lead a team of First Responders and Multiskilled Operatives, ensuring every customer facing damp and mould in their home gets the support, empathy, and solutions they deserve. With Awaab’s Law driving a new standard of accountability across the sector, there’s never been a more important time to step up. This is more than repairs – this is about creating a healthier, safer future for our customers and helping us build a sector-leading response to one of housing’s most urgent issues. If that sounds like something you’d be proud to lead, we want to hear from you.

About Yorkshire Housing

We’re not your traditional housing provider. With around 20,000 homes (and growing!), we’re pushing boundaries to become the UK’s best housing provider. That means being bold, doing things differently and always putting customers first. As Damp and Mould Team Leader, you’ll be part of our ambitious Repairs and Maintenance team, driving a proactive and customer-led approach to damp and mould. You’ll take charge of performance, safety, and delivery, and ensure our services not only meet standards – but raise them.

What do you need to apply?

  • You’ll have previous experience and knowledge in damp and mould, condensation and general repairs, ideally from a social housing background and maybe also hold a recognised qualification (MCIOB, MRICS highly desired).
  • You’ll have an understanding of industry standards, relevant legislation and best practice in relation to dealing with damp and mould.
  • You will have extensive knowledge of the changes and timescales Awaab's law will bring to the housing sector.
  • You’ll have an understanding of damp and mould litigation and claims, ideally with previous experience with housing disrepair cases.
  • You’re aware of what it takes to deliver a service to strict time scales and standards and can identify performance issues and gaps in quality quickly.
  • You have good understanding of budget management and previous experience managing sub-contractors.

What’s in it for you?

You’ll get a salary of £44,140.58 plus a £2,000 car allowance. We offer 26 days holiday (rising to 31 with service), plus bank holidays and a brilliant benefits package. That includes:

  • A health cash plan (claim back for prescriptions, eye tests and more).
  • A great pension scheme (we’ll match your contributions up to 9%).
  • Access to free fitness classes, 24/7 GP support, and free counselling sessions.
  • Loads of learning and development opportunities to keep growing in your career.

At YH, we’re building a workplace that’s inclusive and diverse, where everyone can thrive and be themselves. We believe our differences make us stronger, and we’re proud to reflect the communities we serve. So, no matter your background – if this role excites you, we’d love to hear from you. We know that not everyone ticks every single box – and that’s okay. If you think you’ve got the skills, experience or mindset to make a difference, apply anyway!
