The CNC Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machinery to produce high-quality components for timber doors. This role requires experience in working with timber materials and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. The CNC Operator plays a critical role in ensuring that production runs are efficient, precise, and aligned with quality and safety standards.

Location: Knowsley

Schedule: Full-Time | Monday - Friday

Responsibilities:
  • Program and set up CNC machines to cut, shape, and process timber door components according to technical drawings and project requirements.
  • Load and align materials, ensuring they are secured for accurate machining.
  • Adjust machine settings and troubleshoot issues during operation to maintain optimal performance.
  • Inspect finished components to ensure they meet specified dimensions, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and address defects or deviations in machining, making necessary adjustments or corrections.
  • Maintain detailed records of production runs and quality inspections.
  • Conduct routine maintenance on CNC machinery, including cleaning, lubrication, and replacing worn parts.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical or programming issues promptly to minimise downtime.
  • Coordinate with the Production Manager or external technicians for more complex repairs.
  • Ensure all machined components comply with fire door safety regulations and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with the Production Manager to ensure CNC operations align with the company’s third-party certifications.
  • Operate machinery in compliance with health and safety standards, ensuring safe work practices are maintained.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free workspace.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager and other team members to meet production schedules and address challenges.
  • Communicate material requirements, machining issues, or workflow improvements to relevant staff.
  • Collaborate with CAD designers and joiners to ensure seamless integration of designs into production.
Requirements:
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Certification or training in CNC operation and programming is preferred.
  • Proven experience as a CNC Operator, particularly in machining timber door components.
  • Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and interpreting G-code programming.
  • Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machines for timber applications.
  • Strong understanding of technical drawings, blueprints, and machining specifications.
  • Knowledge of timber properties and best practices for machining.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address machining challenges effectively.
