The CNC Operator is responsible for programming, setting up, and operating CNC machinery to produce high-quality components for timber doors. This role requires experience in working with timber materials and the ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications. The CNC Operator plays a critical role in ensuring that production runs are efficient, precise, and aligned with quality and safety standards.. Responsibilities: Program and set up CNC machines to cut, shape, and process timber door components according to technical drawings and project requirements. Load and align materials, ensuring they are secured for accurate machining. Adjust machine settings and troubleshoot issues during operation to maintain optimal performance. Inspect finished components to ensure they meet specified dimensions, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. Identify and address defects or deviations in machining, making necessary adjustments or corrections. Maintain detailed records of production runs and quality inspections. Conduct routine maintenance on CNC machinery, including cleaning, lubrication, and replacing worn parts. Diagnose and resolve mechanical or programming issues promptly to minimise downtime. Coordinate with the Production Manager or external technicians for more complex repairs. Ensure all machined components comply with fire door safety regulations and industry standards. Collaborate with the Production Manager to ensure CNC operations align with the companyβs third-party certifications. Operate machinery in compliance with health and safety standards, ensuring safe work practices are maintained. Maintain a clean, organised, and hazard-free workspace. Work closely with the Production Manager and other team members to meet production schedules and address challenges. Communicate material requirements, machining issues, or workflow improvements to relevant staff. Collaborate with CAD designers and joiners to ensure seamless integration of designs into production. Requirements NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Certification or training in CNC operation and programming is preferred. Proven experience as a CNC Operator, particularly in machining timber door components. Familiarity with CAD/CAM software and interpreting G-code programming. Proficiency in operating and programming CNC machines for timber applications. Strong understanding of technical drawings, blueprints, and machining specifications. Knowledge of timber properties and best practices for machining. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
