We are looking for an experienced and driven Workshop Manager to lead our busy HGV workshop in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity for a confident leader with a strong technical background in heavy goods vehicle maintenance to take ownership of workshop operations, ensuring top-tier service delivery and safety compliance.

As Workshop Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing a skilled team of technicians, streamlining workflow, and delivering high standards in vehicle servicing and repairs. This role offers a £50,750 basic salary, bonus, company car, and a Monday to Friday workweek — giving you a great work-life balance with weekends off.

  • Lead and supervise all workshop staff, driving performance and quality.
  • Manage day-to-day workshop operations, including diagnostics, servicing, and repairs.
  • Ensure all work meets DVSA standards and adheres to health & safety policies.
  • Maximise efficiency, workshop throughput, and technician productivity.
  • Liaise with fleet customers, parts suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Maintain accurate job records and ensure compliance with inspection and maintenance schedules.
  • Carry out regular team briefings, training, and appraisals.
  • Continuously improve workshop systems and cost-efficiency.

Previous experience managing a commercial vehicle or HGV workshop is essential. Recognised qualifications in HGV maintenance (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent). Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills. Excellent understanding of HGV servicing, compliance, and repair processes. Comfortable using workshop management systems and Microsoft Office. Full UK driving licence (an HGV licence is desirable but not essential).
