Percival are excited to be working exclusively with Empower Youth Zone to help them recruit for a new Staff & Volunteer Training Manager to join their vibrant team. Empower Youth Zones is the charity that oversees the creation, management and sustainability of both HideOut in Gorton, Manchester, and Salford Youth Zone (SYZ) in Pendleton, Salford. This is an incredibly exciting time for the network as SYZ gets ready to open its doors to the public in the summer of 2025!

Open 7 days a week, the Youth Zones offer a free hot meal and over 20 activities every night for just 50p per visit for young people aged 8-19 and up to 25 with additional needs. Their incredible facilities include a 3G pitch, climbing wall, gym, sports hall and recreation area, and dance, arts, music, and media suites.

This is an exciting role to lead the development and training of over 120 full-time and part-time staff and volunteers across the Empower Youth Zones in Manchester and Salford. The primary purpose of the Staff & Volunteer Training Manager is to develop and administer training programmes for employees, assess training and development needs, and help individuals and groups improve their skills and knowledge. From creating training manuals, conducting in-person training sessions, and monitoring the effectiveness of training programs, you will make sure all staff and volunteers are well equipped to provide sessions and work across the sites!

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Excellent communication skills to deliver training programmes to a wide range of professionals
  • Experience developing and executing successful training programmes
  • A sound foundation knowledge of management practices and strategies with the ability to produce effective development materials
  • Experience of analysing, manipulating and presenting data and reporting on training impact
  • A strong understanding of safeguarding
  • Ideally have worked in the youth or non-profit sector, but not a must
