Are you ready to elevate your facilities management career in a role where your expertise directly supports the UK defence mission? At VIVO Defence Services, we are looking for a proactive, technically capable, and highly organised Service Manager to lead site-based operations at Hamworthy Barracks.

About the role: This is a key position where you’ll serve as the primary point of contact between the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO), the Head of Establishment (HoE), and our wider operations and support teams. Your mission: to ensure that all maintenance activities—reactive, programmed, and minor works under £25k—are delivered efficiently, safely, and in full compliance with contractual standards.

You’ll take ownership of all hard facilities management activities on site, leading inspections, reviews, and follow-ups, and ensuring tasks are completed to a high standard and within performance timeframes. From managing Billable Works to providing on-site technical expertise, you’ll play a vital role in keeping the infrastructure mission-ready. You’ll also support key compliance responsibilities, acting as the Asbestos and Legionella Responsible Person, CDM Principal Designer or Contractor, and more.

What you’ll need: This role requires strong communication and collaboration skills, as you’ll work closely with military personnel, local contractors, mobile engineers, and internal support teams. You’ll provide clear guidance, resolve challenges swiftly, and act as a trusted partner to the HoE—always ensuring that our services align with the priorities of the establishment and contribute to its operational output.

You’ll need a solid background in construction, engineering, or property maintenance, with hands-on experience delivering planned and reactive works. A working knowledge of MOD environments and compliance frameworks such as JSP 375 and CDM regulations is essential. You will need to have a qualification such as an ONC or BTEC in a mechanical or electrical discipline—or equivalent practical experience.

We’re looking for someone who understands how to balance compliance with responsiveness, who takes ownership of their work, and who continually looks for ways to improve. Strong leadership, technical ability, and a collaborative mindset are key. Familiarity with CAFM systems, IOSH certification, and energy performance knowledge are desirable, along with a full UK driving licence.

You will need to be able to pass SC Clearance to be eligible for this role.

If you’re ready for a role where every decision matters and your skills can make a real difference, we’d love to hear from you. Join Vivo Defence Services and be part of a team that values integrity, service, and continuous improvement. Apply today to take the next step in your career with Vivo Defence Services.

What we offer:

  • 25 days annual leave
  • 6% employee matched pension contribution
  • Single private medical cover
  • Life assurance 2 x annual salary
