Islamic Relief Worldwide (IRW) is a faith-based humanitarian relief and development organisation working to save and transform the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable people. Established in 1984, with an active presence in over 45 countries, we strive to make the world a better and fairer place for those affected by poverty, conflict and natural disasters.
IRW’s Office of the General Counsel Division is recruiting for the position of ‘Data Protection Analyst’ to join its Data Protection Team based out of its offices in Birmingham, UK. The organisation is currently operating to a hybrid working policy.
The Data Protection Analyst will act as a technical expert on data protection, providing data protection services to all levels of the organisation that will support IRW to process personal data in a safe, ethical and compliant manner and uphold data subject rights.
The Successful Candidate Must Have:
- A qualification or equivalent in a discipline suited to the remit of the role such as data protection, information security, records/data management or business analysis.
- Experience of working in a data protection or information governance role.
- Excellent understanding of UK data protection laws and regulations and data subject rights.
- Resilient with a genuine commitment to advocate for data protection and data subject rights.
- Ability to work autonomously, and organise, prioritise and manage multiple workloads to meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience of interpreting how data protection principles apply in practical scenarios and making risk-based judgements.
- Strong communication and influencing skills, including the ability to translate technical requirements and data subject rights into simple and clear language.
- Ability to ensure a high level of confidentiality when processing highly confidential and confidential data.
- Excellent IT & digital skills.
- Committed to personal development and continuous improvement.
- Ability and motivation to travel within UK (regional offices, shops, meetings etc.).
- Ability and motivation to provide training and coaching.
- Customer service focused.
