Alternative Heat specialises in designing, supplying, and installing a wide range of off-site prefabricated solutions for the commercial M&E sectors throughout Ireland and the UK. Through continuous investment in our teams and facilities, we have grown significantly and established ourselves as leaders in the offsite pre-fabrication industry across Ireland and the UK. We currently have a team of Service and Maintenance engineers covering biomass installations throughout the UK. We are looking to expand this team by recruiting an additional full-time Biomass Service Engineer to cover Scotland.
The ideal candidate must have previous biomass experience and be capable of performing service, maintenance, and repair tasks on completed biomass boiler projects. An in-depth knowledge of the Commercial Plumbing and Heating industry and Herz Biomass Boiler range would be advantageous; however, product-specific training will be provided. The role requires travel across Scotland and occasional overnight stays. Previous experience in servicing biomass boilers is essential.
Job Details:
- Location: Inverness
- Office Hours: Full-Time, Permanent. 7am – 5pm, Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities:
- Perform operation and maintenance on biomass boilers across the UK
- Respond to reactive call-outs, including out-of-hours faults
- Conduct monthly ash disposal visits
- Suggest improvements and submit reports
- Service and fault-find on biomass plants and associated M&E services
- Collaborate with site and office-based engineers
- Complete field job reports promptly using a tablet
Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:
- Previous biomass experience, preferably with HERZ up to 1.5MW
- Experience in the Commercial M&E trade
- Valid and clean driving license
- Desirable: Experience with other manufacturers and biomass systems
