The Head of Year is responsible for leading the pastoral care and development of their year group, focusing on Behaviour, Attendance, Punctuality, Mental Health, and Personal Development. They will oversee and support tutors and Deputy Heads of Year while working closely with the wider pastoral team.

A visible presence in the school, they will monitor student behaviour during transitions, breaks, and lessons, ensuring routines are upheld and the school’s values are promoted. This role involves working with students, parents, staff, and external agencies to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for all.

  3. Attendance: Monitor attendance trends, address concerns with students and parents, and support improvements.
  4. Behaviour: Promote positive behaviour, manage support plans, use behaviour data effectively, and maintain visibility.
  5. Parental Communication: Build strong parent relationships, share updates, attend meetings, and respond promptly to concerns.
  6. Safeguarding: Respond to incidents, maintain training, and work with the safeguarding team to support students.
  7. Enrichment: Encourage extracurricular involvement, focusing on SEND and PPE students.
  8. Trips: Plan reward and residential trips, ensuring student needs are supported and trips run smoothly.
