ESB is recruiting 2 Business Development Executives to cultivate relationships and secure agreements with private sector landowners to deploy ESB owned and operated high power charging hubs at retail and leisure sites on the strategic road network. These positions will focus primarily on site acquisition in London and the South of England. Reporting directly to the Head of Business Development, ESB eCars’ BD team is responsible for generating and tracking new business leads, negotiating agreements with landowners within the parameters of ESB’s business framework, progressing them through ESB’s internal governance processes and bringing leases or contracts to final execution before handing over to the Infrastructure Delivery team for execution and Commercial team for contract management. The successful candidates will manage ESB eCars site sourcing and development interests in their respective geographies and ensure the delivery of key targets during the expansion of ESB’s public EV charging business in Great Britain.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities to secure lease agreements for rapid and high power EV chargers with strategic landholders, developers, retail and/or food and beverage operators.
- Identify suitable freehold acquisitions of development sites for conversion to EV charging hubs with retail and/or food and beverage partners.
- Develop, negotiate and secure agreements in line with ESB’s business framework and internal governance procedures that deliver long-term value for ESB.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with property owners, key stakeholders and local authorities.
- Work closely with our Commercial, Finance, Group Legal, Group Property and Infrastructure Delivery teams to ensure smooth acquisition and deployment processes.
- As an active team member, ensure that the Business Development Team works effectively to create and deliver a significant pipeline of robust opportunities to underpin an ESB electromobility business of scale across the UK.
- Continually monitor and report on market trends, potential opportunities, and competitor activities in the public EV charging landscape.
Experience & Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, real estate, engineering or a related field.
- A full, clean driving license is required as the role may involve extensive travel.
- Proven experience (minimum 5 years) in business development, site acquisition or commercial real estate role.
- Proven track record of successful negotiation and management of site acquisitions, wayleaves and land/lease agreements.
- Comprehensive understanding of the commercial property market and property development in Great Britain.
- Excellent commercial acumen and business understanding.
- Excellent customer relationship management, effective communication skills and ability to implement suitable business processes.
- Excellent presentation, documentation and reporting skills.
- Ability to work both independently and within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver overall objectives.
- Familiarity with the EV charging market is highly desirable.
- An innovative and strategic thinker with good problem-solving skills.
- Attention to detail and good organisational skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Particularly MS Excel).
Location
London / South of England with regular travel to regional offices in London and Manchester.
