Position Title: Instrumentation & Control Engineer Location: UK Contract Type: Permanent Role Purpose: Join a global energy operator offering career advancement due to internal promotions. This role suits an experienced engineer ready to step up into a more senior position, delivering instrumentation and control (I&C) engineering support across the full project lifecycle in high-hazard environments. Key Accountabilities: Deliver instrumentation and control system design in line with engineering standards and safety requirements. Contribute to the complete engineering lifecycle – from concept through installation and commissioning. Lead or participate in technical risk assessments, including HAZOP, HAZID, LOPA, and RAMS studies. Oversee procurement activities including specification development, technical evaluation, and supplier coordination. Provide field engineering support for troubleshooting and system optimization. Ensure hazardous area instrumentation complies with design and regulatory standards. Supervise and guide contractors during design and construction phases. Support control systems programming and ensure adherence to industry standards. Qualifications: Engineering degree in Instrumentation, Control, or a relevant discipline. CompEx 12A & 12B preferred for hazardous area competency. Experience: Minimum 8 years of experience in I&C engineering design. Proven experience across design, installation, commissioning phases. Strong understanding of hazardous area design and compliance. Solid knowledge of control systems programming and integration. Experience managing contractors and interfacing with cross-functional teams. Competencies: Strong technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Excellent communication and leadership capabilities. Well-versed in UK and international engineering standards. Ability to manage multiple priorities within project deadlines.
