Hartmann Young is proud to be working in the search for a Product Manager on behalf of a leading global CDMO, specialising in API. A global leader in the development and manufacturing of specialist and complex active pharmaceutical ingredients. With a strong legacy and innovative mindset, they partner with pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to support the full product lifecycle — from development through commercial supply. The mission is to improve patients’ lives by delivering excellence in API solutions.

The Product Manager will be responsible for managing the commercial and strategic lifecycle of a defined portfolio of API products. You will collaborate cross-functionally to ensure product profitability, market competitiveness, and long-term growth. This role requires a strong understanding of market dynamics in the pharmaceutical industry, particularly within the CDMO space.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute product strategies for assigned API products to meet commercial and growth objectives.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert for assigned products, providing insights to cross-functional teams including sales, R&D, regulatory, and manufacturing.
  • Conduct competitive market analysis to inform pricing, positioning, and lifecycle management.
  • Lead new product introduction (NPI) processes, working with R&D and operations to bring new products to market.
  • Collaborate with business development and commercial teams to support customer engagements, proposals, and presentations.
  • Monitor product performance, including revenue, margins, volumes, and supply chain metrics.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for existing products, including cost optimisation and technical enhancements.
  • Develop business cases for investment in new capabilities, capacity, or product line extensions.
  • Ensure alignment with regulatory and quality standards throughout the product lifecycle.
Skills / Experience
  • 3–7 years of experience in product management, marketing, commercial operations, or related roles in the pharmaceutical or CDMO industry.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical manufacturing, API markets, and regulatory environments.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence across levels.
  • Commercial acumen with experience in pricing, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and tools such as Excel, Power BI, or Salesforce.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and in a matrixed, global environment.
Education / Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, chemistry, business, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, MSc) is a plus.
