Do you want to work on the most pressing problem of our generation? Do you have experience building great products and know what it’s like to roll up your sleeves and execute well, while building a company around you for the long term? If you truly know what it feels like to fly the plane while trying to build it, we want to hear from you. We’re looking for the best software engineers in the world to join a growing series A startup. At CarbonChain we see the climate crisis as a transformative opportunity for the global economy, and a rewarding career opportunity for those excited to take on the challenge in a rapidly growing market.
Decarbonizing the economy requires a granular, real-time view of where emissions come from and how they might be reduced. We’ve built software to automate the carbon footprinting of supply chains so their emissions can be measured and managed down. Banks, traders, and manufacturers use our product to tame the complexity of international supply networks, identify the most carbon-intensive parts, and find greener alternatives. Having developed technology which is significantly ahead of other solutions, we are now investing heavily in market adoption.
To join CarbonChain, you’ll need a proven career path in software engineering building great products that delight customers. Our company is made up of passionate people with expertise ranging from oil refining to deep learning but we know that there’s a lot we don’t know, and we’re hoping you can help fill that gap.
About the Role
The Tech teams at CarbonChain build and operate the systems that help sustainability leaders decarbonise their industries. We enable the union of carbon data with our customer’s data to create actionable insights for carbon emissions and track where they are generated in our customer’s supply chains. This is an exciting mix of fullstack software engineering, backend systems engineering, data engineering and data science.
We are looking for a Senior Fullstack Engineer to speak the language of decarbonisation for our customers, via product. You’ll join our Product Development team and contribute to the technical implementation of our product interface and services as we build our best in class carbon accounting platform. The successful candidate will be a senior software engineer who has previously operated as a hands-on engineer focused on building enterprise applications in collaboration with design and product.
In this role, the successful candidate will partner with Product, Design, Data and our Carbon teams to build features that delight our customers, and collaborate with engineers across the organization to ensure that we deliver accurate carbon data to our customers. We’ve seen first hand at CarbonChain that measurement equals management in the challenge to reduce global emissions. If you’re great at what you do, we want to hear from you.
This role will report into our CTO, Steve.
What we require from applicants
- At least 5 years of experience in a Fullstack Engineering role
- Strong front end development skills, ideally in Angular and TypeScript
- Experience building data services, ideally in Python, to power frontend features
- Experience collaborating with Product Designers and Managers to define products, manage trade offs, and drive adoption with customers
- Experience building and operating software hosted in a cloud provider environment
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- An ability to work in our London office 3 days per week in Camden Market
What we’re offering
- 26 days of annual leave
- Home office set up allowance of £500
- £2,000 annual learning allowance
- Generous parental leave policy
- Team lunches once a week in the office
- Subsidized gym classes, office gym, and cycle to work scheme.
We are striving to build a diverse team and we would love to hear from applicants from backgrounds less frequently represented in technology, be that in terms of gender, race, or professional background. If you think your skills and experience match what we’re looking for and you’d like to join a Carbon Tech industry unicorn, please get in touch!
