We’re looking for a new team member to join our friendly, supportive, and creative Oban CIAG team on a full-time, permanent basis. Based in Oban, you'll have the chance to work in a stunning location where the natural beauty of Argyll and Bute blends seamlessly with the vibrant culture of the west coast. To deliver the role of Careers Adviser at Skills Development Scotland, it is essential that you possess the Career Development Institute (CDI) UK-recognised professional accredited Qualification in Career Development (QCD or its predecessor equivalent) and Post Graduate Diploma in Career Guidance and Development. In your role as Careers Adviser, you’ll be delivering impartial career guidance, developing career management skills and supporting individuals to plan and manage their career decisions, now and in the future, including services which respond to those facing redundancy.

You’ll be able to demonstrate strong interview, group work and coaching skills with a sound knowledge and understanding of policy, theory and practice in the field of career guidance and you will work with and through a range of partner agencies to engage, inspire, motivate and encourage clients to achieve their full potential.

This is a full-time, permanent position with a contractual base in Oban. The Oban Centre covers a large geographical area, including Oban, Lochgilphead, Tiree, and Mull; therefore, travel within this area will be required, therefore a full current driving licence and access to a vehicle, or alternative means of transport e.g., Access to Work support, is preferable. The role will involve a mix of school and post-school activities. You may be required to deliver in community venues or schools across the area.
