Role Summary: The Respite Support Professional will ensure high-quality service delivery that promotes person-centered, meaningful leisure skills and advocacy for people served in People’s Arc Respite Services. Most respite services are provided at a People’s Arc location in the early evenings and weekends, with some services offered in the person\’s home, including overnight hours.
Role Responsibilities:
- Work collaboratively with people receiving services and their families to develop and implement programs that promote person-centered, meaningful leisure skills, independence, skill building, and well-being to enhance their quality of life.
- Advocate for the needs of people receiving services within People’s Arc, outside human services providers, and the broader community.
- Collaborate with community organizations, service providers, and stakeholders to strengthen the support network for people on their caseload and their families.
- Provide transportation for the person served to leisure activities, medical appointments, and other needs.
- Maintain all required trainings and certifications.
- Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, organizational policies, and best practices in service delivery.
Additional Details:
- Salary: $17.80 per hour
- Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED required; higher educational degree preferred.
- Experience: At least 1 year in community habilitation, respite services, or related fields, with a strong understanding of the needs of people with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
- Knowledge of advocacy and recreational resources and systems.
- Valid NYS Driver’s License.
