About the role

We are looking for an Advanced Mechanical Technician who can inspect, diagnose, and identify more complex issues both mechanically and electrically, whilst covering for our supervisors when they're on holiday, by running the workshop shift. The successful advanced technician will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Diagnose and carry out vehicle repairs, servicing, and parts replacement.
  • Diagnose vehicle faults and specify the correct method of repair and parts to be used.
  • Carry out vehicle servicing and routine vehicle examinations using handheld data capture devices if applicable.
  • Carry out vehicle road testing where necessary to identify specific vehicle defects or following remedial repair.

PCV Mechanical, Electrical & Body Repair Skills required. We'll provide your overalls and all the specialist tools and equipment needed. We offer visa sponsorship for qualified skilled and experienced HGV/PSV mechanical engineers in our Sheffield region. Hourly rate: £23.00 p/hr. Working Shift Patterns are: 4 on 4 off. 06:00 - 18:00 38.5 hrs p/w.

About you

  • Are you willing to complete an IRTEC accreditation and re-certification when required?
  • Can you demonstrate capability in using current diagnostics, and be willing to train staff on diagnostic and repair standards?
  • Will you be open to mentoring apprentices in the team?
  • Do you have a minimum level 3 NVQ standard or equivalent (i.e., City & Guilds level 1 & 2)? (essential)
  • A PCV licence isn't essential, we can support you in gaining it.
  • Do you have a flexible approach to work?
