VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS), an industry leader in Correctional Healthcare, has an opening for a Medical Director / Physician at Essex County Correctional Facility in Middleton, MA for Part-Time (24 hours per week)!

Position Summary

The Site Medical Director serves as the responsible Physician and health authority in a correctional environment, overseeing clinical services to ensure appropriate medical care delivery.

Essential Functions

• Consult with community medical providers to resolve service delivery issues.
• Supervise clinical staff and ensure on-call services are provided.
• Review and approve clinical protocols, policies, procedures, and disaster plans annually.
• Manage referrals to outside healthcare facilities for quality and continuity of care.
• Sponsor Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners per state law.
• Support clinical staff and participate in training and meetings.
• Complete and document patient encounters accurately and timely.
• Ensure compliance with formulary and documentation standards.
• Provide emergency treatment and respond to urgent situations.
• Maintain competence in CPR and AED use.

Minimum Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited medical school.
• Full medical license in the state of employment.
• Current DEA registration.
• Board certification or eligibility in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine, with correctional or managed healthcare experience preferred.
• Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Supportive team player with leadership and decision-making skills.

Schedule

• Part-Time, 24 hours/week.
