This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Duties:

• This Clinical Laboratory Scientist position is located in the Pathology and Laboratory Service at the VA Medical Center, Leeds, MA campus. It is a full-time position at 40 hours per week.
• Independently carrying out daily laboratory operations at the GS-11 level.
• Developing, performing, evaluating, interpreting, correlating, and validating laboratory procedures and results according to current regulations.
• Performing tests in specialties such as chemistry, microbiology, immunology, hematology, and immunohematology.
• Using manual or automated methods on various biological specimens and environmental samples, including quality control and maintenance of equipment.
• Correlating abnormal lab data with pathological states and determining the validity of results.
• Potential responsibilities may include laboratory safety, analyzer specialization, new test system operation, quality control, supply control, and proficiency assessments.
• May include limited duties in lab information management and ancillary testing.
• Performing tasks with a broad exercise of independent judgment, organizing and setting priorities with minimal supervision.
• Monitoring quality systems, collaborating on diagnosis and treatment, and providing education to healthcare professionals and the public.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00am-5:30pm, with rotating weekend on-call. Flexible work schedules may be authorized at supervisor’s discretion. Telework is not authorized.

Qualifications:
