Our client has grown to become one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of wheat derivatives such as starches, sweeteners, proteins and alcohol for major food and industrial sectors worldwide. They are looking for an experienced Site Electrical Engineer with power generation experience to join an established team, where all electrical and control systems are designed and managed onsite. The individual will play an integral role in ensuring the sites electrical/power requirements are met, whilst developing safe systems of work, and developing the skills of the team. In addition, you will provide support to the maintenance team to ensure optimal efficiency of site.
The responsibilities of a High Voltage Site Electrical Engineer:
- Performing Senior Authorised Person (SAP) duties up to and including 11KV.
- Duty Holder for all LV & HV electrical systems.
- Point of reference for site and responsible for the operation and repair of large scale CHP (21MW installed capacity).
- Reviewing, improving, and implementing electrical safety standards in compliance with applicable regulation.
- Liaise with the internal project team and contracted service providers.
- Point of reference for site and responsible for the operation and repair of HV and LV switchboards, transformers, UPS systems, power factor correction, variable speed drives (up to 1 MW) and other electrical equipment.
- Work with the electrical maintenance engineering team on fault finding diagnosis into operational defects and in developing solutions.
- Support the ongoing development of the computerised maintenance management system (CMMS) Mainsim.
- Managing electrical inspections and testing, ensuring all documentation is completed and up to date.
- Support the mechanical maintenance team as required with isolations and integration of new plant.
The ideal skills and experience of a High Voltage Site Electrical Engineer:
- Hold a minimum of HNC level in Electrical Engineering and the ability to demonstrate suitable experience in a similar role.
- Currently holding SAP or AP status and seeking to progress to Authorising Engineer in future.
- Good working knowledge of electrical equipment and systems (protection systems, HV switchgear, electrical generating plant, HV/LV transformers, control systems).
- Proven experience in an operational, maintenance or construction environment, with a bias towards power generation.
- Experience with fault diagnosis and developing solutions.
- Knowledge of current electrical legislation.
