Job Role & Responsibilities
As a Mechanical Engineering Apprentice, your daily activities will include, but are not limited to:
- Reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and computer-generated reports
- Understanding schematics and P&IDs and translating them into work schemes
- Researching and analyzing vendor/supplier proposals, specifications, manuals, and data to evaluate technical content, feasibility, cost, and maintenance considerations
- Managing various technical tasks using fundamental engineering principles
- Understanding project health and safety aspects related to mechanical engineering, including CDM and risk assessments
- Supporting senior engineers with design deliverables such as drawings, specifications, and data sheets
- Assisting the mechanical engineering department with administrative tasks to support broader learning

Requirements & Experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with technical software is a plus
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written, and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
- A strong work ethic and attention to detail to meet strict deadlines
- Flexibility to work in design offices and on construction sites
University Criteria
- Minimum of 96 UCAS points
- Level 3 subjects must include mathematics and a science subject, such as A-level Mathematics and Physics or BTEC Extended Diploma in Engineering
- Additional science and mathematics subjects, like further maths or statistics, are accepted
- At least five GCSEs at grade C/4 or above, including English, Mathematics, and Science
- HND/C in an engineering discipline may qualify for entry to level HE5, depending on the subject area and maths/science qualifications
