The Assistant Director of Student Financial Services assists the Director of Student Financial Services in all aspects of administration of Federal, State, and institutional aid programs. They provide information to prospective and enrolled students and families related to financial aid and student accounts. This includes counseling on the financial aid process, aid eligibility, and financing options. The Assistant Director responds to inquiries via email, phone, and in person. Responsibilities also include reviewing applications, determining financial aid awards, scholarship selection, reviewing appeals for additional aid, and exercising professional judgment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Counseling students and families (40%)
  • Answer inquiries related to financial aid and student accounts via phone, email, mail, and in person
  • Guide students/parents/families through the financial aid application process, explaining awards, eligibility, need determination, and payment options.
  • Assist with FAFSA completion, verification, and loan processes
  • Respond to questions about Federal, State, and Institutional financial aid programs
  • Exercise professional judgment when reviewing requests for additional aid due to special circumstances or changes in financial situation
  • Assist students with account questions such as billing, payments, holds, and refunds
  • Coordinate with the Director and OIT on annual financial aid setup and testing
  • Review, evaluate, and process financial aid applications for eligibility and awards for various student categories, including veterans and military benefits
  • Create and communicate financial aid award notifications via letters, email, and portal updates
  • Manage tuition remission benefits and restricted scholarship funds, including renewal eligibility and scholarship application processes
  • Adjust awards to reflect outside scholarships
  • Support federal grant and loan program processing
  • Present financial aid information at events for prospective students and community audiences
