Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Application Engineer to become familiar with the Hexagon Geospatial COTS Product suite GeoMedia, ERDAS APOLLO and ERDAS IMAGINE, in support of the development and maintenance of Hexagon's Government, Transport and Defence projects. The initial role will be to act as the Technical Delivery Lead for a significant UK Defence Geospatial project employing Hexagon's products.

Job Description

  • Overseeing the technical delivery of GIS implementation projects using Hexagon's suite of Geospatial COTS software products.
  • Providing technical leadership to Application Engineers and Software Developers in the configuration of those products to meet customers' business needs, employing the services of Subject Matter Experts and Consultants where needed.
  • Capturing and interpreting customer requirements and constraints to deliver a fully compliant solution.
  • Assisting the customer with installations in the target environment and issue resolution.
  • Provide support to the development team in the diagnosis and rectification of issues.
  • Overseeing the quality of the work delivered by development teams in the UK and overseas.
  • Building and motivating a high-performing technical delivery team.

The role offers an opportunity to gain an excellent grounding in Hexagon's Geospatial application suite and will lead on to further opportunities with regards to future GIS implementation projects.

Due to the projects in the Defence sector, the candidate must be a British Citizen and capable of obtaining UK security clearance. The preferred candidate is not expected to already be an expert in Hexagon's suite of Geospatial products, however, they will be expected to assimilate this knowledge rapidly using Hexagon's online product training courses. The candidate must however have some existing experience of using Geographic Information Systems and should also have good general IT knowledge and good working knowledge of Windows Operating Systems.

GIS & Cartography familiarity with Geographic Information Systems and/or digital cartography is essential, some experience of producing, using or visualising cartographic maps, including hard copy map production is desirable. Knowledge of OGC standards, coordinate reference systems, map legends or scale-based symbology would be an asset. Experience using GeoMedia Feature Cartographer is highly desirable. Experience using ERDAS Imagine, Spatial Modeler or ERDAS Apollo would also be valuable. Digital skills experience using data warehouses, digital workspaces, Oracle data server, SQL or REST APIs would be valuable. Knowledge of database utilities, basic Windows administration, software installation in virtual environments and IT troubleshooting is also desirable. Experience of Agile delivery is highly desirable familiarity using Microsoft DevOps is highly desirable.
