  • We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team of highly skilled nurses and decontamination technicians working in the Day Case Unit at Queen Mary’s Hospital in Roehampton.

  • This is a dual role to work as a decontamination technician cleaning and decontamination scopes for Endoscopy and working as a Health Care assistant supporting the nursing staff admitting patients pre procedure for endoscopy and surgical procedures.

  • Also working in the procedure rooms supporting the nursing staff and assisting with the recovery and safe discharge of patients. Full training will be provided for both roles.

  • You must be able to work as an effective team member.

  • You musthave completed an NHS Care certificate and have worked a minimum of 6 months as an HCA in order to apply for this post.

  • We care for patients undergoing procedures for Colonoscopy, Gastroscopy and Cystoscopy. Plastic, Dermatology and Podiatric Surgery.

  • Once fully trained, your role will involve working in all areas of the unit including the recovery area admitting and recovering patients post procedure, working in the procedure rooms supporting patients during endoscopy and cystoscopy procedures and working in the decontamination area of the unit.

  • Your roles in the recovery area will include the following, completing a full admission, taking a set of observations including blood pressure, heart rate, blood sugar, urinalysis, and weight recording. Post procedure recovery observations.

  • Organisation of discharge documentation and general support of nursing staff which may include bed cleaning and changing, escorting patients to X-ray or phlebotomy or general stocking up.

  • In the procedure rooms, the role will be to support the patients and nursing staff throughout procedures with what is required.

  • In the decontamination rooms scopes required a manual leak test, a manual clean before a chemical clean in a machine. clean scope are then provided back to the procedure rooms or stored in the drying cupboards.

  • Full training will be provided.
