An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Civil Engineer to join a well-established Highways & Active Travel team in their Belfast office. The organisation is recognised for its expertise across the full project lifecycle, from strategic planning and feasibility studies to complex engineering design, programme delivery and asset management. With a large multidisciplinary team operating from state-of-the-art offices, the company partners with major transport authorities, government departments and public agencies. Their portfolio spans highways, active travel schemes, public transport improvements, bridges and structures, coastal and environmental engineering, as well as major regeneration programmes. Your new role The role offers the chance to work on a variety of local and national infrastructure projects, contributing to safer, more sustainable and more efficient transport networks. Responsibilities: Lead and support the delivery of highway, active travel and public transport schemes, including cycleways, greenways, junction improvements, drainage/SuDS, road upgrades and bus priority measures. Produce and check designs, calculations, technical drawings and reports to the highest standards of quality, accuracy and compliance. Work closely with clients, suppliers and multidisciplinary colleagues, attending progress meetings and providing expert input. Mentor and support junior engineers, promoting technical excellence and professional development within the team. Manage small project teams and coordinate workloads to ensure successful delivery within budget, programme and client expectations. Contribute to bids, proposals and work-winning activities. What you\βll need to succeed To be considered for this role, you should bring: A degree (or master\βs) in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline. Relevant experience delivering civil engineering or highways design projects. Strong knowledge of DMRB, CDM regulations and relevant national standards. The ability to work independently, supervise others and check technical outputs. Commercial awareness and a commitment to delivering high-quality work on time and within budget. Experience with design software such as Autodesk Civil 3D, AutoCAD, Causeway Flow or similar (desirable).
