This is a permanent opportunity, reporting directly to the Supply Chain Manager.
The Planning Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the end-to-end production planning function within an aerospace manufacturing environment. This role leads the planning team to ensure optimal scheduling of manufacturing operations, alignment of material availability, capacity, and customer demand, and the efficient flow of work throughout the business. Working closely with operations, supply chain, engineering, and commercial teams, the Planning Manager drives the strategic planning function to meet delivery performance, inventory targets, and compliance with industry regulations.
- Lead and manage the sites production planning activities to ensure alignment between demand, capacity, material supply, and operational priorities.
- Translate customer demand and business forecasts into achievable production plans across multiple manufacturing cells and departments.
- Oversee short-, medium-, and long-term capacity planning, identifying constraints and implementing mitigation strategies in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Manage and develop a team of planners/schedulers to ensure robust scheduling practices and planning accuracy.
- Drive the planning functions input into SIOP (Sales, Inventory, and Operations Planning) processes, ensuring a clear and aligned operational roadmap.
- Ensure planning data integrity within ERP/MRP systems and lead continuous improvements to planning processes and system usage.
- Monitor and report key planning metrics, including schedule adherence, on-time delivery, WIP levels, and material availability.
- Collaborate with procurement and supply chain to ensure material readiness aligns with production needs.
- Support the integration of new product introductions (NPI) into the planning process, ensuring smooth ramp-up and delivery alignment.
- Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 9001, and other regulatory and quality standards through effective planning controls.
- Lead planning-related improvement initiatives using lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
Mandatory Requirements
- Proven experience in production planning, materials planning, or supply chain management within aerospace or a high-compliance manufacturing sector
- Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., SAP) and planning processes
- Experience managing planning teams and leading cross-functional collaboration.
- Familiarity with lean principles, JIT, and capacity planning tools and methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and planning/data analysis tools.
- Ideally Degree or HNC/HND in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline (desirable).
07:30 – 16:15: Monday-Thursday
07:30 – 16:00: Fridays
(Every other Friday is a non-working day)
