The Learning & Development organization at Mastercard has the privilege of enabling and fostering the learning and skill development of all of Mastercard’s employees – from onboarding, to role-based skill development, and leadership development. The VP of Learning & Development for the Sales and Customer Success Academy is a key leadership role in the Learning & Development organization, reporting directly to the Chief Learning Officer. This leader will lead the multi-year L&D vision and strategy to holistically up-skill, deep-skill and future-skill the talent in Sales, Business Development, Customer Solution Centers and Customer Success.
The ideal candidate is a leader who can empathize with the life of a sales person, potentially through prior experience in sales, customer relationship management, business development, or sales operations. They are a leader who is able to integrate the teaching and development of sales skills with coaching and habit formation toward key behaviors (i.e., ability to teach, coach, and develop the what and the how). They are also an innovator who pushes the boundaries to make learning for sales people more consumable, sticky and impactful, utilizing advancements in GenAI and learning technologies while anchored in the science of adult learning and psychology. It is critical for this leader to also have an understanding of how to integrate learning effectively with end-to-end talent strategies. To be successful, this leader needs to be a big picture, systems thinker who has demonstrated skillfulness in finding synergies, connecting people and teams, and fostering collaboration that then drives meaningful outcomes for the organization.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Partner with cross-BU Sales Learning Council (incl. Sales Excellence, Business Leaders, HR) to formulate multi-year L&D strategy and roadmaps for Sales, inclusive of ongoing prioritization as new needs emerge, and the impact of AI on the upskilling and reskilling of sales people.
- Take a persona-centric view to formulate a holistic and integrated learning experience that enables well-rounded development and career progression.
- Function as a consultant and advisor to People Business Partners, Talent Consultants, business leaders, and Sales Excellence on optimal ways to leverage learning as a means of driving business and organizational impact, while being able to connect the dots to other talent solutions.
- Serve as the primary point of contact to designated business units for learning inquiries and consultations – this would be on an interim basis until a robust Tier 0 solution is implemented and sustained.
- Work in close partnership with other L&D Leads, Sales Excellence, HR Partners and Business Stakeholders to design, build and deliver the holistic and integrated learning experience for priority roles and tied to business outcomes.
- Lead a team, and in partnership with Sales Excellence, Business Stakeholders and HR Partners, to define learning needs and outcomes, design and develop learning offerings, deliver with operational excellence, and measure and monitor for impact.
- Oversee and steer the design and delivery of compelling and relevant learning experiences (with the ability to facilitate where needed).
- Drive the go-to-market strategy for owned portfolio, ensuring tight orchestration across all of L&D, Sales Excellence, HR partners and other business stakeholders.
- Oversee and manage the budget and portfolio of learning assets with Sales Excellence, Business Stakeholders and HR Partners with a relentless focus on optimizing the return on investment.
- Bring in external and forward-looking perspectives on how the talent covered by the Academy is evolving.
