The role involves designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud infrastructure and services on the Microsoft Azure platform. You will work closely with all areas of IT to ensure performance, compliance, security, and cost-efficiency of our cloud resources. Additionally, you will provide technical support and troubleshooting for our cloud-based applications and systems, including administration of other SaaS based systems such as our Ring Central telephone platform.
Key role responsibilities:
- Monitor and optimise the performance, availability, and scalability of our cloud infrastructure and services.
- Manage and automate cloud operations using tools such as PowerShell, Azure CLI, Azure DevOps, and Azure Monitor.
- Operate, maintain, and enhance the Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) environment.
- Assist in the design and implementation of cloud solutions using Microsoft Azure services, such as virtual machines, storage accounts, networking, security, backup, and disaster recovery.
- Ensure compliance with cloud governance policies and best practices, such as identity and access management, resource tagging, cost management, and security standards.
- Support the Technical Services Head and IT Director with cloud billing and reporting, as well as providing guidance on cloud cost optimisation strategies.
- Stay updated with the latest trends and developments in cloud technologies and services.
Qualifications and skills required:
- Educated to Degree level in an appropriate technology area (e.g. Computer Science, Network Administration).
- Certifications in Microsoft Azure, such as Azure Administrator, Azure Network Engineer, or Azure AI Engineer, is a plus.
- At least 3 years of experience in cloud engineering, on the Microsoft Azure platform.
- Comprehensive understanding of AVD architecture, design, and migration best practices, along with proficient management of daily operational tasks in the environment.
- Expert in setting up and managing host pools, session hosts, user access, application layers, and FSLogix profiles.
- Strong knowledge of cloud architecture, design, and implementation principles and practices.
- Proficient in scripting and automation tools, such as PowerShell, Power Automate, Azure CLI, Azure DevOps, and Azure Monitor.
- Experience working with Azure Foundry, Microsoft Copilot Studio and AI Agents.
