About the Role:
As an Automation Engineer, you'll lead and support the delivery of full project lifecycles, from control system design and specification to commissioning and technical support, on complex lifting systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Programming, fault-finding, and support of PLC and electrical control systems.
- Development and review of PLC logic, FDS documents, and design specifications.
- Retrieval and reverse engineering of existing PLC code.
- Preparation of documentation, workpacks, and certification.
- Creation and execution of Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) with client representatives.
- Full project engineering and management of automation scopes.
- Conduct onshore and offshore site surveys and commissioning.
- Ensure adherence to HSEQ standards and contribute to safe systems of work.
- Provide clear technical instruction to project personnel and subcontractors.
Essential Requirements:
- Degree or equivalent in Automation, Electronics, or Mechatronics (HND/HNC/NVQ Level 3 with experience also considered).
- Hands-on experience with Siemens TIA Portal.
- Working knowledge of SCADA systems.
- At least 5 years' experience designing and maintaining PLC/electrical systems.
- Excellent organisational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Strong understanding of offshore HSEQ standards.
- Familiarity with crane and lifting systems (onshore or offshore).
- Proficient in MS Office software including Excel, Project, and Word.
- Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
