Our client based just outside Bolton in Greater Manchester is a well-established multi-disciplinary consultancy who are a small office of 8 friendly people, but part of a company with over 60 staff across 3 offices. They are seeking an ambitious Graduate Civil Engineer to join their thriving development engineering team in Manchester. The role predominantly supports clients in the housing development sector, offering excellent exposure to a range of civil design projects. This is an ideal opportunity for recent graduates or those with up to 2 years' experience looking to develop their career towards chartered status in a supportive and flexible work environment.
Job Overview
- Assist in the day-to-day running of civil engineering projects within the development sector.
- Collaborate closely with team members, clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders.
- Support the preparation and progression of technical submissions, including Section 38, 278, and 104 Agreements.
- Respond confidently to technical queries from clients and contractors.
- Develop detailed civil design work including drainage and highway elements.
- Contribute to sustainable drainage (SuDS) design and implementation in line with current standards.
- Maintain attention to detail and support project delivery to deadlines.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Up to 2 years' experience in a civil engineering role, ideally within consultancy or housing development.
- Ambition to work towards professional chartered status (e.g., ICE).
- Proficiency or awareness of AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of 3D highway design software (preferably PDS) and drainage design software (e.g., Causeway Flow) is desirable.
- Understanding of sustainable drainage systems (SuDS) principles and standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage effectively with clients and authorities.
- Proactive, enthusiastic, and committed to professional development.
