Do you want the opportunity to carry out teaching in Engineering Geology? Do you have the experience and passion to design and deliver exceptional courses at postgraduate taught and undergraduate levels, and to contribute to developments in teaching and learning? The School of Earth and Environment is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Engineering Geology (Teaching and Scholarship). You would be joining a dynamic environment within the Engineering Geology, Rock Mechanics and Hydrogeology grouping at the University of Leeds.

You will be expected to make a significant contribution to teaching on taught postgraduate and undergraduate courses with an emphasis on geotechnical site investigation. You will lead modules, lectures and workshops for both undergraduate and Masters programmes, with a particular focus on our MSc in Engineering Geology and our associated Level 7 (Masters) Degree Apprenticeship, as well as on undergraduate programmes in geosciences and engineering. You will also be expected to engage in appropriate administrative duties.

You will have a PhD in Geosciences or Geotechnical Engineering or a related cognate discipline, with an appropriate background in either academia or industrial practice in a relevant subject area. Additionally, you will have evidence of leadership skills (e.g. course or commercial project leadership) and the potential to teach effectively at all levels within higher education, including field-based teaching. The ability to demonstrate effective partnership building in order to deliver an applied curriculum with excellent employability outcomes is desirable.

As a lecturer, you will design and deliver teaching and assessment, student project supervision, pedagogic scholarship and administrative duties within the School, Faculty and University and contribute to academic leadership in the field of Engineering Geology, with specific emphasis on geotechnical site investigation. This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for it to be undertaken in a hybrid manner. We are also open to discussing flexible working arrangements.
