The Role:
The IT Project Engineer will be responsible for specifying, purchasing, building, and configuring computer servers and firewalls to meet current cybersecurity standards. This role involves delivering these systems to Project teams within the Operations departments of Atmos worldwide, ensuring they are secure, efficient, and reliable.
Role Responsibilities:
· System Specification: Identify and specify the technical requirements for computer servers and firewalls based on project needs and cybersecurity standards.
· Procurement: Manage the purchasing process for hardware and software, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with organizational policies.
· System Building: Assemble and configure computer servers and firewalls, ensuring they meet specified requirements and performance standards according to contracts.
· Cybersecurity Compliance: Implement and maintain cybersecurity measures to protect systems from threats and vulnerabilities. Configure customers servers according to cyber security specifications.
· Project Delivery: Coordinate with Project teams to deliver and integrate systems into the operational environment.
· Learn, test, implement & troubleshoot communication protocols used by Atmos Software & Hardware (i.e. OPC DA, OPC DA, DCOM, MQTT, WCF, etc.)
· Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures, and changes and compliant with contractual agreements.
· Support and Maintenance: Provide ongoing support and maintenance in various time zones to the operations and R&D teams for deployed systems, troubleshooting issues as they arise.
· Collaboration: Work closely in various time zones with other IT professionals, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
· Send monthly report to COO with KPI related to the role
Skills Required:
I • Technical Proficiency: In-depth understanding of Server, Switch and Firewall hardware/deployment. Generally vendor neutral, Dell experience advantageous. Strong understanding of Windows Server and Workstation OS’s.
• Cybersecurity: In-depth understanding of cybersecurity principles, standards, and best practices.
• Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and successful delivery.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills to resolve technical issues efficiently.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, stakeholders, and vendors.
• Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure systems are configured correctly and secure
- Proficient in supporting, securing and deploying workstation and server OS\’s (Mainly Microsoft, Linux advantageous).
- Experience in pro-active network support/deployment, including switching, routing, firewalls and security.
- Strong organisational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
Experience:
- Relevant certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) are highly desirable.
- Bachelor\’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in IT engineering, with a focus on server and firewall configuration.
