A Day in the Life of a Respiratory Therapist: Respiratory Therapists at our facility assess and treat a wide range of respiratory conditions, tailoring care to each patient's specific needs from newborns to the elderly. Using the latest medical technologies, they administer therapies such as oxygen, medications, and ventilatory support, adhering to strict safety and hospital protocols. Collaboration is key; therapists work closely with an interdisciplinary team, including physicians and nurses, to integrate and optimize patient care plans. They are adept at functioning autonomously in high-pressure environments, making critical decisions quickly and accurately. Routine responsibilities include thorough documentation of treatments and outcomes, participating in clinical rounds, and engaging in ongoing education and support for patients and their families.

At Cuyuna Regional Medical Center's Respiratory Therapy Department, we are dedicated to helping patients breathe easier, recover more quickly, and manage chronic lung conditions with exceptional care. Whether providing emergency airway management or long-term treatment for conditions like COPD, asthma, and other respiratory disorders, our team offers life-saving support in both critical and routine care environments. Our unique approach at CRMC includes therapist-driven protocols, cardiac monitoring (such as Holters and event monitors), and EEGs, setting us apart from other respiratory therapy programs. Our specialists are highly trained in ventilator management, advanced airway procedures, oxygen therapy, and pulmonary diagnostics—ensuring timely and accurate interventions to optimize patient care. Qualifications:
Education and Experience Required:
- American Heart Association Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 4 months of hire
- American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire
- Able to provide a copy of the highest diploma or degree attained
- A degree in Respiratory Care from an accredited respiratory care program (Associate degree or equivalent as defined by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC))
- Current Respiratory Therapy licensure in Minnesota
Preferred:
- RRT credential
Compensation and Benefits: The pay range listed above is the estimated starting pay range for this role. Actual pay rate offered depends on many factors including each individual employee's experience level, preferred education/certifications, along with market conditions.
