Location: Wolverhampton, Staffordshire

Rate of Pay: £11.00/hr

Nature of the job role: Working with a child 4 hours after school during term time (39 weeks) and 7 hours per week during school holidays (13 weeks). To be proactive in keeping him occupied and encourage interaction whilst supporting with educational tasks and mobility aids. The role is to be at the home for when the child is dropped off from school and be there with him until his mum returns. During holidays will be to keep him occupied, supporting family with day trips and other activities similar to those during term time. An enhanced DBS will be required as the successful applicant will have access to the home whilst looking after the child.

Main Duties:

  • Personal duties: Possible support with toileting but not likely to be often. Support with transfers.
  • Domestic duties: Preparing snacks.
  • Social Duties: (AAC Support) to support with non-speaking communication devices.

Hours of work: 4 hours per week (2 hours a day twice per week). Approximately 15:30 – 17:30, but to be confirmed. Also 7 hours per week during the 13 weeks of school holidays.

Qualifications: NVQ/Diploma in Child Care and Moving and Handling of People would be an advantage but not necessary as training can be given.

Skills & Experience: Previous experience of looking after children that need support with mobility and communication would be advantageous. An enhanced DBS will be required before the start of the job.
