PURPOSE: This is a full-time sales position that will require a self-motivated person with strong communication abilities to develop and establish long-term customer relationships with residential and commercial customers. The qualified candidate should have a strong sales background and product understanding. They will be responsible for promoting, selling and securing orders from existing and prospective customers through a relationship-based approach.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Identify and develop new residential and commercial customer accounts with homeowners, builders, general contractors, masonry and landscape contractors.
- Business development by online research, travel to new construction areas, and following up on sales leads.
- Generate and maintain gross sales margins based on reasonable company expectations.
- Perform estimate take-offs from plans or site measurements and price jobs according to division-set goals.
- Follow up on all proposals for projects and meet with customers as required.
- Meet with installers and/or their customers as requested, including field support if necessary.
- Work with the inside sales team to fulfill orders and meet customer expectations.
- Attend monthly sales meetings, trade show events, and other after-hours business events.
- Develop and maintain strong vendor-supplier relationships to provide elevated customer service.
- Take orders for customers over the phone, in person, and in the field.
- Clearly communicate orders to the inside sales team.
- Quote material estimates to customer.
- Work with other divisions to promote sales.
- Manage customer expectations.
OTHER JOB DUTIES: Perform all other duties as assigned including carrying out responsibilities, performing duties, using skills, and working in conditions necessary to perform all assigned tasks.
QUALIFICATIONS
LEADERSHIP:
- Plan, delegate, and control work assignments.
- Review salaries/wages of others and recommend changes as appropriate.
- Recommend new hires, promotions, transfers, demotions, disciplinary action, and terminations of employment.
- Conduct performance reviews.
- Establish a departmental budget and have sole accountability for the results as measured against the budget.
- Have managerial-level responsibilities for an identifiable program/department.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS: Travel requirements within the region. Standard office setting. Stands, sits, and walks. Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, or relevant work experience. Proven outside sales experience, 5+ years. Valid driver's license and willingness to travel. Experience with all aspects of the sales cycle, prospecting for new clients, and networking within industries. Background in hardscape and/or construction/products is highly desired.
