Two Unique Opportunities
- Yeovil District Hospital: Be part of a tight-knit, dynamic team: 4 consultants, specialists in UGI, IBD, hepatology, nutrition, and ERCP. Work in a busy DGH setting managing inpatient/outpatient care, endoscopy lists, GI bleeding rota (1-in-8 non-resident), and MDT meetings. Add value through subspecialty expertise—IBD, ERCP, hepatology, nutrition—tailored to local needs.
- Musgrove Park Hospital (Taunton): Join a larger regional hub handling 4,500+ new referrals annually, featuring NHS bowel screening and advanced therapeutic endoscopy (ERCP, EUS, stenting). Shape your career with opportunities in advanced endoscopy training and subspecialty services (UGI cancer, IBD, hepatology, nutrition). Enjoy generous flexibility: annualised sessions, chamber working, research opportunities, and a post-CCT development environment.
What You’ll Do
- Deliver high-quality diagnosis and treatment across GI inpatients, outpatients, and endoscopy.
- Lead endoscopy procedures—colonoscopy, OGD, ERCP, EUS—according to your interests and skills.
- Support and mentor trainees, FTs, and fellow consultants.
- Be an active participant in MDT meetings, clinical governance, and audit projects.
- Option to develop a subspecialty interest aligned with local service needs.
What We’re Looking For
- Full GMC registration + license to practice.
- Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Gastroenterology (or within 6 months of CCT).
- Experience across general GI, hepatology, IBD, and therapeutic endoscopy.
- Strong communicator and team player, driven by patient-centered care.
- Enthusiasm for developing services, teaching, and embracing innovation.
