Our Vehicle Technicians carry out scheduled servicing and maintenance of the John Lewis Partnership Fleet in a professional and competent manner.
Salary: The salary offered for this role is up to £42,700, from 1st April this will increase to £44,200 plus a shift premium. Your potential earnings could be up to £59,000 including Shift premium and OTE (On Target Earnings).
Working Hours:
- Late Shift: Full time role, 37.5 hours per week, with the expectation of working 1 in 2 Saturdays, at premium overtime rates. This will attract a shift premium of 25% (£7,875 per annum) 14:00 - 22:00
- Night Shift: Full time role, 37.5 hours per week. Week 1: Monday - Friday 22:00 - 06:00; Week 2: Sunday - Thursday 22:00 - 06:00. This will attract a shift premium of 33% (£10,395 per annum)
Contract type: This is a permanent role.
What you’ll be doing:
- To ensure all vehicles are maintained to a safe and roadworthy standard to both VOSA and Partnership’s requirements.
- To ensure that all inspection/service/defect paperwork is completed correctly and in a timely manner.
- Maintain a safe working practice that complies with current safety and Partnership regulations.
- To ensure that high quality repairs are carried out in a cost effective manner.
- Ensure that all working areas are kept clean and tidy.
- To assist in specific projects as directed.
- To keep up to date of developments within the motor industry and take note of changes that may affect the effective operation of the workshop.
- To carry out servicing & repairs of the Partnerships fleet of vehicles.
- To take ownership of personal development, seeking assistance & guidance from team leaders.
- To account for your own time, be efficient and pro active when working within the workshop.
- To work as part of the team and assist others where needed.
Our Vehicle Workshop is growing and you’ll be working with many experienced Partners. Our current technicians will ensure you have all the tools you need to succeed and excel in your role, giving you the opportunities to develop your knowledge and progress your career. You’ll also be around to assist the development of our apprentices within the workshop too, allowing you to share your own knowledge and experience for the growth of the team. Working in our Vehicle workshop is a fun and welcoming environment. As a co-owned business, all of our Partners work together to ensure all goals are achieved and that everyone in the team is a part of that success.
Essential Experience/Qualifications required:
- City and Guilds 1,2,3 Heavy Vehicle Technician or equivalent qualifications.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- A proven background in transport commercial vehicle repairs.
- Knowledge of commercial vehicle legislation and roadworthiness.
- A 'C' or 'C+E' driving licence is desirable, but not essential.
