Sports Teaching Assistants Required

Location: Primary & SEN Schools (EYFS - KS5)

Start Date: Immediate or September 2025

Contract: Full-time, ongoing (part time hours will be considered)

Core Education is looking to appoint a proactive and enthusiastic Sports Teaching Assistant to support pupils in an SEN school. This role involves assisting with sports and outdoor education activities, helping pupils engage and develop their skills in a supportive environment. The position is full-time and available for an immediate start.

The ideal candidate for this Teaching Assistant role will have prior experience working with children and a background in sports or physical activities is highly advantageous.

Key Responsibilities of the Sports Teaching Assistant:
  • Support pupils with Special Educational Needs in physical education and outdoor learning activities
  • Assist teachers in planning and delivering sports sessions tailored to the needs of the pupils
  • Encourage pupil participation and promote positive behaviour during sports and outdoor education
  • Help with the setup, supervision, and safe use of sports equipment and outdoor spaces
  • Support pupils' physical, social, and emotional development through structured activities
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals to meet individual pupil needs
  • Maintain records of pupil participation and progress in sports activities
  • Promote a safe and inclusive environment for all pupils during physical activities
Requirements for the Sports Teaching Assistant role:
  • Eligibility to work in the UK
  • Recent experience working with children within the last two years is essential
  • Experience working with pupils with Special Educational Needs
  • Excellent knowledge of the curriculum and assessment frameworks
  • Ability to provide two professional references from recent roles working with children
  • Hold a current DBS registered with the update service or be willing to apply for a new one
